Every AED we sell as refurbished has already saved you the hardest part of buying life-saving equipment: figuring out whether it's actually ready when you need it. That's what certification means here, not a cosmetic pass, but a full functional and safety review before a unit is ever listed for sale.
What "Certified Refurbished" Actually Means
A refurbished label means nothing on its own. Here's what ours requires, on every single unit, before it's eligible for sale:
- Full functional self-test confirming the device operates correctly
- Firmware verification to confirm the unit is running current, supported software
- Physical and cosmetic inspection documenting the actual condition of the case, screen, and connectors
- Battery and pad life assessment, checked against the manufacture and expiry dates printed on the components themselves, not estimated
- Connectivity confirmation for WiFi-enabled models
- A second-person sign-off before the unit clears certification. One technician tests it; someone else reviews and confirms before it's ever listed.
Every one of these steps is logged per unit, by serial number. If you ever want to see what was actually done to the specific device you're buying, ask, we keep the record.
Where These Units Come From
[PROGRAM NAME] sources refurbished units through [trade-in programs / lease returns / decommissioned fleet upgrades, describe actual sourcing here]. We don't list a unit until it's physically in hand and has completed certification, what you see in stock is what's actually available.
Condition Grading
Not every refurbished unit is in the same shape, so we don't describe them all the same way. Each unit is assigned one of three condition grades at intake:
| Grade | What it means |
|---|---|
| Certified, Like New | No visible wear; battery and pads have most of their rated life remaining |
| Certified, Good | Minor cosmetic wear only; battery and pads have solid remaining life |
| Certified, Functional | Visible wear, but the unit meets every functional and safety requirement |
The condition grade for the specific unit you're looking at is always listed on that product's page, not buried in fine print.
Warranty
Refurbished units carry their own warranty, separate from and generally shorter than the manufacturer's warranty on a new unit. Exact terms are listed on each product page, since warranty length can vary by unit condition and remaining component life.
Why Buy Refurbished
A certified-refurbished AED runs the same lifesaving technology as new, at a lower price point. For schools, community organizations, and businesses working with a fixed budget, that difference can mean the gap between having a device on-site or not having one at all. You're not getting a lesser device, you're getting the same device, at an earlier point in its service life, verified before it reaches you.
Questions About a Specific Unit
Certification reports are available on request for any refurbished unit you're considering. If you want to see the intake and testing record for the specific serial number you'd be buying, contact us before you order and we'll provide it.
